Miscellaneous Designs

The designs on this page are smaller-scale works that I have produced over the many years of my design education and experience. Though the majority of these designs are not products of expansive and long-term projects, I am still extremely proud of them, which is why I believe they deserve a spot in my portfolio as well. These pieces can be used to understand more of my artistic style, as well as my breadth of design skills.

In my design history class, we were assigned a final project that tasked us to explore a cultural design exchange, analyzing the “borrowing” between one subject dating back to before the 1750s, and a more modern representation of design. I chose to explore the transition of modular furniture design in the form of a magazine that closely represents a furniture catalog.

Spaces

As the final project for my foundational design studio class, our assignment was to create a structure that includes spaces that serve a variety of different purposes, such as providing personal nostalgia or a high point of view. The form also had to follow the shape of a module we created from a previous assignment.

In my foundational design studio class, we were assigned a project in which we had to construct a basswood bridge that spanned over a 24-inch gap, weighed less than 40 ounces, and could hold the weight of a large rectangular brick. My bridge followed all of these requirements and could even hold double the weight it was expected to (two bricks)!

Zaha Hadid Inspired Book Cover

In my foundational design studio class, we were assigned a project that involved finding inspiration from a designer of choice and hand inking/painting a book cover based on one of their works.

5 Steps to a Pomegranate

Prompted to design a five-step diagram visually describing any type of process, I chose to create a graphic of the five steps to opening and retrieving the seeds from one of my favorite fruits, the pomegranate.

BCA Class Merchandise

To celebrate my high school’s graduating senior class, I designed the graphics for the class merchandise that was then put on hoodies, sweatshirts, and t-shirts. The design was inspired by our school mascot, the Knights, and the related murals that used to be painted across the walls of our hallways.

Kinetic Wall Art

For a high school senior capstone project, I decided to create a concept for a kinetic piece of artwork. My goal for creating this piece is to be able to delve into ceramics and design, but also explore my interests in engineering and coding. This piece serves as a decorative clock, with the centerpiece having a dual-faced clock that flips to either a sun or moon design depending on what time of the day it is.

Cooper Hewitt Design Competition

As a participant in the Cooper Hewitt National High School Design Competition, I created a concept based on the annual prompt and theme and designed a poster depicting my idea and details behind it.
